Mealtimes in the pink!

Now that summer’s finally here, it’s time to add a splash of colour to mealtimes! Got your apron ready? It’s in for some fun… especially if it’s white 😉

Remember we told you about the fabulous baby food chefs Comme des Papas? Today, we bring you a great recipe using beetroot, a vegetable with truly extraordinary properties. And we don’t say that lightly! As well as being an antioxidant, it provides energy, iron and reduces stress. It even has a slightly sweet flavour that makes it really popular with all ages!

And as we love surprising you with a new twist, we’ve combined beetroot with a vegetable that’s rich in potassium, magnesium, calcium and vitamins A and B. Hint: this vegetable is pink, too! Can you guess? That’s right, it’s radish!

Combining them together will give baby an amazing boost! All set? Let’s cook!

Pink radish and beetroot purée – from 12 months

You will need 10 small pink radishes, a beetroot and some fresh parsley.

  • Wash and scrape the radishes, remove any stalks. Cut them into chunky slices.
  • Wash and peel the beetroot and cut it into small cubes.
  • Steam the sliced radish and cubed beetroot for 10 to 15 minutes until very soft.
  • Drain and blend to a purée.
  • Sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for the finishing touch.

A bit chilly for cold food? Heat the purée to warm baby up.

Hot day? This purée is just as delicious served chilled 😉

Handy tip from the Comme des Papas chef: once you have washed and scraped the radishes and removed the roots and leaves, finely grate one or two to introduce your baby to the new texture.
